Advanced Coursework Network

Advanced Coursework Network

The new Rhode Island Advanced Coursework Network provides qualified high school students the chance to take an exciting catalog of college and career preparatory courses at no cost to participating students. Advanced Coursework Network courses are offered by Rhode Island colleges and universities, community based organizations and other school districts at no cost to students or families.  Governor Raimondo, the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) and stakeholders across our state created this innovative new program starting in the 2016-2017 school year. Taking advantage of advanced coursework of all kinds can better prepare students for success in college or future careers.  Taking advantage of dual enrollment or advanced placement courses can reduce the time it takes students to earn a college degree while significantly reducing college costs.

The Advanced Coursework Network Course catalog is available for students here:

Approval Process

  • The student is subject to an academic review to gauge their ability to participate in this program and the School Counselor or Administrator must approve the Advanced Course Network course(s).

  • The student may take a maximum of two full year courses or four semester courses.

  • Students enrolled in an ACN course may choose to have a virtual learning period in their schedule in order to complete their ACN coursework.
