Gongoliers at Regionals

The "Gongoliers" compete at the FIRST Robotics Competition in MA!
Posted on 03/16/2018
This past weekend 36 students competed at the South East MA District Event for FIRST Robotics.

Great respect must be given to these students because, despite finding the many ways our robot could break, the team was able to advance all the way to the semi-finals.  Our students had to constantly repair and test our robot under a stressful match schedule and did an excellent job the full weekend.

The event began Friday night with the load-in and robot inspections, so students arrived at school for noon to pack everything and load the truck, then we shipped out at 3:30, and returned by 10 pm.

Saturday saw a departure time of 6:45 and after a full day of competing against the other teams, we returned at 9 pm for a short night of rest, then we were back on the road at 6:45 again Sunday morning.

In addition to competing, throughout these three days, the students were interviewed by judges, subject to safety inspections, scouted other teams to form the best alliances, and applied the transferable skills we teach here at PHS to their 'real world' experience.

We'll be competing again at the RI District Event on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th at Bryant University.
Feel free to join us for some exciting times!
