Ponaganset's Sculptured "Story Cube"
Posted on 04/26/2018

Ponaganset High School Ceramics students are set to make a big impression this May! 100 students have participated in a "Story Cube" sculpture installation on the campus that will finally be installed on May 26th.  Each student involved either created an original ceramic cube that tells the story of a personal experience or has played a role in the construction of the base structure that will secure the over 85 units. This project was made possible by kind donations from the community and will be new addition to the campus that can be enjoyed for years to come! If you are interested in more information visit the PHS Ceramics website.

May 5th:  Cement Pour & Pipe Installation (9 to Noon)
May 26th:  Ceramic Cube Installation & Final Design! (9 to Noon)

Katelyn Calderone (10) and Allison Bergman (10) pose next to their finished construction. This was our first chance to see how the cubes would look stacked together!

This project was designed by Katina Gustafson, a student teacher from Rhode Island College. Here, we see her leading the class as they began staining their finished cubes in order to add emphasis to their detailed carvings. The pieces will be fired one more time to make the new reddish -brown color become permanent.
