PSAT (NMSQT) Grade 10 & 11

PSAT (NMSQT) Grade 10 & 11
Posted on 09/14/2021

PHS is offering the opportunity for our grade 10 and grade 11 students to take the PSAT (NMSQT) this fall.

The PSAT (NMSQT) is a great primer for the SAT but it's more than just a trial run. For current grade 11 students, PSAT (NMSQT) scores are used to identify National Merit Scholars. Grade 10 students are welcome to take the PSAT (NMSQT) in preparation of the SAT. More than 3.4 million high school students (mostly juniors and sophomores) take this multiple-choice test every year, nationwide.

When:         Wednesday, October 13, 2020 (during the school day)

Where:        Ponaganset High School

Who:           Mostly 11th graders; some 10th graders

Cost:           $20 per test (registration & payment is due by October 1, 2021)

The PSAT/NMSQT is relevant to your future success because it focuses on the skills and knowledge at the heart of education. It will measure:

  • What you learn in high school

  • What you need to succeed in college

The October PSAT/NMSQT cannot be administered from home. It is strictly an on-site assessment, even for those that have opted for virtual learning or homeschooling.

The October PSAT/NMSQT cannot be administered to students on a one-to-one basis.  We cannot accommodate that at a whole school level.

Cell phones are not permitted in the testing rooms. Any devices, including smartwatches, that can be used to record, transmit, receive or play back audio, photographic, text, or video content are not allowed in the testing rooms.

Go to www.Collegboard.org for more information about the PSAT (NMSQ) or ask your school counselor. Students need to register for an account with CollegeBoard if they have not done so already.

The DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS October 1, 2021 and payment is due at registration.

You can register using this REGISTRATION LINK to use your MySchoolBucks Account. (You can easily set up an account if you don’t have one by following the link.)

Please note, there are limited exams available. Registrations will be monitored by order of the date and/or time received. MySchoolBucks will close/not accept registrations when that number of exams is met. Once registrations are received, more information will be available regarding the testing day.

If you have any questions, please contact the Guidance Dept. at (401) 710-7500 ext. 3199 or 3194.

Kind Regards,
