Since 2016, Glocester-native 16-year-old Maddox Realejo has been studying with Irina Tchantceva at The Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School. He has been a part of the Music School’s chamber music ensembles for the past two years. At age nine, he started playing the piano. Currently, he is a junior at Ponaganset High School and has been involved with the music program since his freshman year when he participated in production of The Music Man. Maddox is a percussionist and pianist in the school’s Wind Ensemble under the direction of Daniel Coyne. He is also a student member of the Chopin Club. For the last six years, Maddox has participated in the RIMEA Solo and Ensemble Music Festival at Rhode Island College, earning superior scores each year with an invitation to perform in the Honors Recital in 2016. He has participated in various master classes and recitals and has performed for organizations throughout Rhode Island. In addition, he is a member of the school’s varsity soccer team as well as a member of the indoor and outdoor track teams.

Maddox will perform with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Symphony Orchestra. Alexey Shabalin will conduct the 2pm, May 5th RIPYO concert.  The concert will be held at The VETS, Providence, and tickets will be sold at the door through the Music School box office. Ticket prices are $11/adult, $6/students & senior citizens.
